Through a series of twists and turns we discover that the professor's brother is actually alive and has just published a novel inspired by his personal experience of his sibling's disappearance. The plot thickens when we learn that the medium's dream actually relates to the professor, whose brother happened to disappear near a train crossing and was presumably murdered when they were children. With the case of the missing boy troubling her, she goes to the professor, hoping he can somehow make sense of this confusing and disturbing dream and understanding why it refuses to go away. We are shown how Allison had earlier met the professor at an outdoor picnic. However, we are told that only two bodies were recovered. We are told that the perpetrator is in jail, convicted for the abduction and murder of three children. The assumption is made that the brother was kidnapped and killed. The story begins with the medium Allison DuBois, played by Patricia Arquette, having a recurrent dream about the disappearance of a young boy's brother near a train crossing. After seeing the TV show Medium, I became very curious about the real Allison and this book helped me to feel like I knew her a little better. I plugged into this book and didn't put it done till I was finished. There were several studies conducted by the author, testing the ability of some very exceptional people, including Allison DuBois. It was exciting to see the lengths that Gary would go to prevent anything false from coming into the session, and some of these readings were not even done in person. I was fascinated beyond belief as I read each wonderful and detailed story. SimonThis is an awesome and amazing book written in the first person by someone who has gone to every length necessary to bear out the truth about mediums, and the extraordinary ability to connect with the dead.
